Rodney Square

Wilmington's civic heart, named for Caesar Rodney, who rode through the night to cast Delaware's vote for independence. The square was built between 1915 and 1921 under a City Beautiful plan led by Pierre S. du Pont and John J. Raskob. James E. Kelly's equestrian statue of Rodney was unveiled on July 4, 1923.
